Garlic Chip and Cracker Dip

Garlic Chip Dip is perfect for a family night of fun! My family always had Christmas Eve at my Grandma’s house for my childhood. I have so many fond memories of that.

The menu always featured finger foods and appetizers.

This dip recipe is perfect for finger food or a quiet family night with a movie and conversation.

Once you make your homemade chip dip, you will not want to return to store-bought.

If you are not a fresh garlic fan, you will want to make the recipe below

Fresh garlic is super healthy, and finding ways to use it in some of my home cooking is essential.
I often go through phases of using certain healthy ingredients consistently and then stopping for a while.
Now is the time to try to get more garlic into the diet.

Onion is another hero for cooking, too. Onion powder is not my favorite. I would much rather use fresh onions.
They add delicious flavor to dishes. There are many onion choices at the supermarket.
I have a beautiful decorative wire container to keep my onions in, and I love it. It looks so pretty, filled up with different onion varieties.

 What You Need:

16 oz. Sour Cream

1 Stick Unsalted Real Butter ( Purchase a good quality butter. There is a taste difference.)

1 Cup Chopped Sweet or Yellow Onion

4 tsp. Dried Oregano ( I LOVE this spice!)

2 Cloves of Crushed Garlic

1/2 tsp. salt

What To Do:

Melt the butter on low heat. Pour in the chopped onion and crushed garlic. Let the onions cook on low to medium heat until brown, soft, and translucent. I like my onions very brown, around the edges, for dips.

Before adding other ingredients, use a potato masher to mush up the onions.

Mix in the Oregano and salt.

Take the pan off the stove top eye and allow the onion mixture to cool. This should take about 15 minutes.

Pour the sour cream into a small mixing bowl and add the onion and garlic mixture. Mix it in well.

Enjoy with your favorite chips or crackers!
