Homemade Snack Swamp Crackers

Homemade Snack Swamp Crackers for Outdoorsman

This is a neat recipe a friend shared with me that was made years ago to send off with hunters. This cracker recipe hit the spot when they went hunting in the fields or in the swamps. These are a Southern thing! 🙂 Now, you know I am not a Southern girl from birth. I was born and raised in NY State, but living in GA for 15 years now has made me a transplant. HA! But I still love my NY!

My sweet friend made me some of these crackers to try, and since I LOVED them, she kindly passed on the recipe from her second mom, Mrs. Helen. Thank you, Miss Kathy!

What you are going to need:

1 box of unsalted Saltine crackers

2 tsp. Crushed Red Pepper Flakes

1 Tbsp. Onion Powder

1 Tbsp. Garlic Powder

1 Tsp. Cajun Seasoning

1 Envelope Ranch Dressing (Dry Powder)

1 1/2 cups Canola Oil or oil of your choice. I love olive oil!

What you need to do:

-Place all of your crackers into a sealing container.

-Mix all of the other ingredients together in a separate bowl.

-Pour the mixture over the crackers.

-Seal the container well and turn the container every so often for 30 minutes until the oil absorbs into the crackers.

That is all there is to it!

These crackers make excellent appetizers or party snacks and the perfect camping snack too! They are awesome! Some of the best-tasting crackers that I’ve ever tasted.

Please let me know what you think of these if you can make them! Is there anything that you would change or add to the recipe?
