Cotton Ball Christmas Tree Craft

 Cotton Ball Christmas Tree Craft

You can make some fun and cute crafts out of cotton balls! They are so soft and fluffy which makes them a fun art supply for kids.

These trees look like they have fluffy snow.

The best part is kids LOVE cotton balls!  My kids were super excited when they saw they were getting to paint them. 🙂

This cute craft would make a nice gift for Grandma and Grandpa!

Each tree can look unique depending on which “gifts” you decide to put under the tree.  I have acquired a lot of ornaments through the years and had some that I really do not use on my trees.  The kids enjoyed picking their “gifts’!

What you will need:

-Piece of sturdy white paper about 12×12

Card stock worked great. I even made one on regular printer paper which was floppy but worked fine for hanging on the fridge.

-22 jumbo cotton balls

-green and brown washable kids paint

-glitter

-paint brushes

-4 craft sticks

-sharp cutters to cut sticks in half

-glue gun with glue sticks

What you need to do:

The glue stick will secure the cotton balls and crafts sticks.

The hot glue will secure the ornaments under the tree.

Lay the cotton balls on the paper in a triangle shape outline and then fill in the middle with the rest of the cotton balls. Pick up each individual cotton ball and spread a circle of glue stick underneath and press the cotton ball back down.

Paint each cotton ball with green washable kids paint.

Sprinkle each cotton ball with the glitter colors of your choice. Gently shake off the excess glitter over a garbage can or sink.

Cut 4 craft sticks in half and glue stick 4 halves down under the tree with the curved edge pointing down.

Paint each stick with brown paint.

Hot glue each “gift” under the tree. Use caution with children and hot glue guns!

Give your creation hours to dry before touching.  The green paint on the cotton balls takes the most time to dry.

Now, you have a beautiful decorative holiday craft or a fun gift for family from the kids. 🙂

Happy crafting, Christina 😉
