Counting Game Using The Game Twister(r)

This game is fun and yummy at the same time!

Toddlers and preschoolers love it, and for the homeschooling mom it is a delight.

Kids learn number concepts and get activity time with this fun game!  What teacher does not love that?  Using the Twister® game mat makes this game a blast!

Do you love the smell of fresh popped popcorn?  I do!   The smell of fresh popcorn in the air just seems to change the mood of the home.  Everyone is ready for fun!  My kids get so excited when I get the popper out. 🙂  Popcorn is one of those snacks that brings families together.  I thought popcorn was the perfect snack for this game!

You will need:

  1. Index cards
  2. Tape
  3. Writing marker
  4. Twister® game map
  5. plain popcorn
  6. An attitude for fun!

What to do:

Write the numbers 1-24 on the index cards. Depending on what ages your children are you may not want to go that high.  My two youngest children are preschool and nursery school age.  Now, tape one number under each circle on the game mat.

The colored circles work great for color recognition. I asked each child to stand at a certain color and walk down the “color lane” to a certain number.   It is time to hand them their popcorn container and get busy counting! They need to put the right number of popcorn on the number your give them or that they choose.  You decide your rules for the game.  Once in a while they took a piece of popcorn in their mouth. Ha ha!

You can count by two’s, three’s, five’s, tens, twenties, or one hundreds.  Just be sure to change your index cards to match how you are having your child count.  Use Twizzlers® Pull n Peels®  for the larger numbers or simple Popsicle sticks rubber band together for a non food item counter.

When your done with the game allow the participants to chow down! Giggles and smiles will fill the room!!  🙂  This game is soooo much fun!
