Mashed Potatoes and Burger Gravy

When it comes to mashed potatoes with a burger gravy I have the tendency to Love them TOO MUCH!

This meal is so good, so I have to use self-control. HA!

All the way from my husband to my little 4-year-old cutie this recipe is a favorite. 🙂

Sharing easy, affordable, family meals is what I love to do.   The meal should be filling, too.  As a mom of 4, I want my kids to have a full tummy.

Making mashed potatoes can be time-consuming.

Peeling all those potatoes, THEN washing them off, THEN cutting them up.

You need a pot for cooking, a cool dish for mashing with a potato masher, and you need the mixer to get nice fluffy potatoes.

That makes for a lot of dirty dishes.  UGH!

My solution is round-up some help! Ha!  If possible let the family help you!

It is important for kids to learn to prepare and cook meals with you.  Yes, even the boys! 🙂

Here are the supplies you will need to feed about a family of 6 (and have a little left over):

10 – 15 Russet Potatoes

2 -3 lbs Ground Beef

32 oz. Beef Broth

1 & 1/2 Sticks Butter

1 cup Sour Cream

2 – 15 oz. No Salt Added Cans of Sweet Peas

1 – 12 oz bag Frozen Corn

Salt & Pepper

6 Tablespoons Flour

What you will need do:

-Peel, wash, and cut up the potatoes. Cover  them with water and a little bit of salt.  Cook on high heat to bring to boil and lower the heat to cook until soft.

-While the potatoes are cooking brown your ground beef with some salt and pepper. Drain the fat from the beef.

-When the beef is brown add 2 cans of drained peas and the bag of corn. Blend well.

-Add one stick of butter and the container of beef broth.

-When the butter has melted add in the 6 tablespoon of flour. Mix in until smooth with a whisk.

-Allow the gravy to come to a boil while whisking often.  Turn down the skillet heat and simmer until the gravy is thick.

-When the potatoes are soft, drain out the water and pour them into a large mixing bowl.

-Mash the potatoes with a potato masher and add the 1/2 stick of butter, sour cream, and salt & pepper.

-Mix with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy as desired.

-Serve the potatoes with the gravy mixture on top. This meal is a winner for sure! 🙂

Enjoy,

Christina
